SOLD: A Farmhouse, Tiny Home and Working Shop in Center, Colorado

Some properties make sense the minute you see how all the pieces fit together. At 937 County Road 46 in Center, there was room to live, work and make something of your own, all on the same property.

This San Luis Valley property has sold. I'm glad to keep its story here as a look back at one of my listings, not as a home that's still available.

A home with a view worth keeping

The three-bedroom, two-bath farmhouse had the kind of details that made everyday life feel good: an updated kitchen with a large island, double ovens and views of the San Juan Mountains from the sink. There was a cedar-lined walk-in closet in the primary bedroom, a pellet stove and a Rinnai heater, plus a deck looking out over an established yard.

Those details mattered. But the home was only part of the story.

Space to work, create and spread out

The 3,024-square-foot shop had served a commercial fabrication business. With its used-motor-oil heating system and space for equipment, projects and storage, it gave this property a very different feel from a house with a standard garage.

Next to the shop was a tiny home with its own kitchen and three-quarter bath. A shed and chicken house added more practical space. Together, the buildings showed how a property could support a home life and a working life in one place.

The story behind the property

When you're selling a property like this in the San Luis Valley, the job is to help buyers understand how it all works together. The home, the shop and the extra living space each had a role. The story was in the combination.

That's what I enjoy about rural property here. Every place has its own details, and those details deserve more than a quick list of bedrooms and bathrooms.
